Flat, supportive surfaces with less sink

Firm Mattresses on Sale

Firm and medium-firm mattresses keep the body on top of the surface with little sink. Back sleepers, stomach sleepers and many heavier sleepers prefer that feel, because it supports the hips and keeps the spine from curving.

The medium-firm and firm models below are authentic showroom and closeout mattresses, inspected before delivery.

Who tends to like a firm mattress

Stomach sleepers need support under the hips so the lower back stays flat, and back sleepers often like a surface that does not push into the curve of the spine. Heavier sleepers compress a mattress more, so a firmer build can feel just right.

Firm does not mean hard

Luxury firm mattresses still have comfort layers on top, and a very hard surface can create pressure points at the shoulders and hips. Medium-firm is the most popular option, and it is worth testing it before going to full firm.

Frequently asked questions

Is a firm mattress better for stomach sleepers?

Often. A firmer surface keeps the hips from sinking, which helps the lower back stay flat.

Is a firm mattress good for side sleepers?

Sometimes, but many side sleepers find a firm bed uncomfortable at the shoulders and hips. A medium or medium-firm bed with a plush top is a common compromise.

What is the difference between medium-firm and firm?

Medium-firm keeps some cushioning at the surface; firm has very little give. Medium-firm suits more people.
